The garden first opened on 1st October 2008. It is Asia's first children's garden. The Garden was opened by Dr Yaacob Ibrahim, Minister for the Environment and Water Resources, at the Singapore Botanic Gardens.
We went to the JBCG on the 26th of September. To find out more about our trip, read on!

Trees and Lightning
On one stormy day in 2002, a giant tree in the Singapore Botanic gardens was struck by lightning. It slowly died. In memory of this majestic giant, the trunk was conserved. It was moved here in 2007. Around the trunk were parts of large roots from other tropical trees. These are arranged to create an area for hide-and-seek.
Secret cave
The secret cave has a waterfall.
The Magic of Photosynthesis
This interactive Photosynthesis Exhibit is made up of four cranking stations and an imaginary
plant with ‘durian’-like fruits. Each cranking station represents an ingredient or product of the
photosynthesis process:
• Station 1: Sunlight. By cranking the handle, energy from sunlight is absorbed through the leaves of the plant
(the "sun" will light up).
• Station 2: Carbon Dioxide. By cranking the handle, carbon dioxide is absorbed into the plant through the leaves (the meter will light up).
• Station 3: Water. By cranking the handle, water and minerals are absorbed through the roots (water will move up the pipe on the stem of the plant).
• Station 4: Photosynthesis. This represents what happens when all three ingredients: sunlight, carbon dioxide and water, are absorbed into the plant in the presence of the green pigment, chlorophyll. By cranking the handle, the photosynthesis process is activated; oxygen (represented by mist) is released through the "stomata" on the leaves of the tree, and sugar
and food is produced (the durian-like.fruits light up).
Waterplay area
This waterplay area is designed for fun with water.:) Water pumps and water fountains are found here.
Rest time!
After we explored the whole garden, we came back to the Kidz Cafe to have a snack.
When we had our fill, we went back to school by bus!
This is one of our favourite outings this year. We had a great time in the garden and hope that we can go there together again. Thanks for reading about our trip!!! :)
